This accident was big news for the Canon City Daily Record and Florence Citizen newspapers for about a week.
I have been told by the Canon City Daily Record that I cannot even paraphrase the many articles written about the Byron car accident. "We have quite a bit invested in our paper and archives, and Findagrave receives funding through advertising. We are very protective of our copyright under those circumstances. You run the risk of having a lawsuit and 'going to jail' if you say anything other than, "they were in a car wreck". Love my small town newspaper folks. I'm seriously thinking of unsubscribing.
Byron Tipton and his son, William, were killed on impact in a car wreck. His children Jackie (John) and Cathleine (Katherine) were victims of the same car wreck, but drowned in the Arkansas River. The mother, Mrs. Tipton, survived, along with the baby, Stanley. A Miss Ruth Skeels was also killed on impact.
There is so very much more in both the Canon City Daily Record and the Florence Citizen. It's pretty heartbreaking. Should you wish to receive copies of these papers,
a search fee that will include up to 10 pages of copied material (there were only 9 pages), to:

My Father, J. Arthur Trevithick, and I visited the gravesites sometime in the early 1980s. In the one photograph, the large headstone is Byron Elsewoth Tipton's, and the other three are the three children that died; William, Kathern E., and Jack E.
After visiting the gravesites, we visited the local office of the newspaper where I was allowed to read the events of the crash.
