Bernhard J. Bloch, 88, of 504 Russell Drive, Ripon, Passed away early Saturday morning, January 15, 2005 at the Markesan Resident Home, in Markesan.

Ben was born on December 16, 1916 the son of Gottleib and Amelia (Weiss) Bloch in Green Lake.

He graduated from Green Lake High School and married Elda Hielke in Ripon on July 4, 1940.

Ben worked for Alloy Rods Corp. as a test welder in LaFayette, IN. They later made their home in Ripon, WI, where he was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Elda of Ripon, one son, Reverend James (Joan) Bloch of St. Joseph, IL, three daughters; Barbara Vandenburgh of Seattle, WA, Leann (Craig) Rutz of Elk Grove, IL, and Kimay (Mark Noble) Bloch of TN. Grandchildren; Rachel (Steve) Osthus, Matthew (Jennifer) Bloch, Rebecca (James) Cain, Sarah Bloch, Alan (Audrey) Vandenburgh, Scott (Abeba) Vandenburgh, Lisa Rutz, Lindsey Noble and Ashley Noble. Great-grandchildren; Michele and Emily Osthus, Evon and Aidian Cain, and Yonas and Karin Vandenburgh and Adeladi Noble. He is also survived by one brother Otto Bloch, one sister Margaret Alf both of Ripon, three sisters-in-law, Arlene Bloch of Wausau, Lillian Schneider of Ripon and Margaret Hielke of Ripon, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers; Reinhold, Emil, Gustave, Edwin, and Bert, as well as two sisters; Edna and Nona.

Funeral services for Bernhard will be held on Monday, January 17, 2005 at 11:00 am at Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon, with Pastor Bryan Fritsch officiating.

Friends may call on Sunday, January 16, 2005 from 4-6:00 pm at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, and on Monday from 10:00 until the time of the service at the Church. Burial will follow in Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. A memorial has been established.
