Roy Allen Wampler, 87, died June 19, 1979 at Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas. Mr. Wampler was born near Gettsyburg, Pa. in 1892, the son of Lewis and Ella Wampler. After going to school, he left Pennsylvania and went to Iowa where he learned the carpenter trade at which he worked until World War I. He enlisted in the Engineer Corps and spent 10 months overseas during the war. A few months after returning home, he was united in marriage to Sarah Edison of Carroll, Iowa. They spent the next 17 years farming, eight in Iowa and nine after coming to Wyoming. He then left the farm and moved to Douglas where he practiced the carpenter trade until his retirement. Mr. Wampler is survived by his widow, Sarah of Douglas; one brother, Earl Wampler of Scranton, Iowa; and one sister, Grace Cooley of Aspers, Pa. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
