Martha Grace Harford Eddy
Grace graduated in June 1897 from Prospect High School, Prospect, Ohio. Grace's mother was the President of the Board of Education, and had the honor of making the graduating address and presenting her daughter with her diploma.
Grace graduated from Shepardson College for Women, June 1899 in science.
Grace held two degrees from Denison University's Conservatory of Music,
June 1901 in piano and in June 1902 in voice.
In 1903 Grace completed a bachelor's in literature from Denison University. All her schooling was in Granville, Ohio.
Grace enjoyed her active roll in the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Licking County. She was also active with the alums in her sorority, Kappa Phi, which later became Kappa Kappa Gamma at Denison.
Grace was the great great granddaughter of Theophilus Rees who was the leader, founder and patriarch of the Welsh Hills, established in 1802 in Granville, Ohio..
Also the great great granddaughter of James Black who built "Black's Tavern" in 1802 on what would be the Newark, Ohio courthouse square.
She was also the great great granddaughter of two Revolutionary War soldiers buried in Licking County, Ohio. Major James Taylor, first associate judge in Newark, Ohio arriving in 1804. Also, John Roads a fifer in the Revolution who purchased land in Licking County in 1807.
