James Lee Clanin, age 71, of Springfield, MO, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011 in his home . He was born November 22, 1939, in Canton, IL, to Melvin and Pauline (Dilts) Clanin. He was a member of the Seminole Baptist Temple. James retired from the Springfield Health Department in 2002. James was an avid Cubs fan, he enjoyed traveling, and collected International Harvester. James' greatest love was spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine Clanin; one daughter, Donna Cooper; one granddaughter Kimberly Neighbors; and his parents, Melvin and Pauline Clanin. He is survived by four daughters, Mary Neighbors of Springfield, Judy Cooper of Springfield, Cindy Lawson and husband Joe of Branson, and Pauline Harrington of Springfield; four sons David Cooper of Springfield, Ricky Clanin and wife Christina of Collinsville, IL, Mike Cooper and wife Joanne of West Plains, and Kenny Cooper of San Francisco, CA.; twenty grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; one brother, Russell Clanin of Peoria, IL; one sister, Barbara Clanin of Springfield; and a host of friends and family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO . Burial will be held in Eastlawn Cemetery, Springfield , Missouri. Visitation will be held from 10 -11 a.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Hospice.
