Jessie Ruth Edgerton was born 27 Jan 1890 in Lake City, Colorado; she was delivered by her uncle, Dr. George Cummings on the day after his marriage to her mother's sister Jessie Ellen Gilmour. She was the third child of Washington Irving and Mary Cecelia nee Gilmour Edgerton, but the only one to survive past childhood. The firstborn, Willie Volney, died at 3 weeks of age while the Edgertons were living in Ottawa County, Kansas. The secondborn, Whitley F, died before his fifth birthday and is buried at Lake City.

In 1904, the Edgerton's moved to Littleton from Lake City. The following is from : http://www.littletongov.org/history/biographies/stephenson.asp.....

"Ruth Edgerton was born in Lake City, Colorado in 1890. The family moved to Littleton in 1904 so that Ruth would get a good education. She began high school at the converted creamery on Alamo Street. Soon after, the new Rapp Street School was opened for all grades. The first home for the family was on Ridge Road and Spotswood. They had many cherry and plum trees on the property. Later, they built a house at 5900 Bemis Street. Ruth graduated from Littleton High School in 1908 and continued her education at the University of Denver College of Music. She graduated in 1910 and became a music teacher."

Jessie Ruth married Charles Emmett Stephenson on 11 Oct 1916 in Littleton at her parents' home. Continuing from the above source: "An old-fashioned chivaree was given by the "hose boys" (volunteer firemen) and the bride and groom rode to Main Street on the old hose cart. The minister, Rev. George Edmundson, walked beside the cart to keep things from getting out of control. Emmett and Ruth honeymooned in Longmont.

"The Stephensons built a house at 5909 S. Bemis Street in 1921. The young couple had two children, Ruth Lorraine, who was born in the Edgerton house across the street, and Marylyn, who was born at the Stephenson house."

Ruth married Dr. Virgil Johnson and had two children, Stephen Ross and Carol Ann. Marylyn Ann married James Henton Andrews and had three children: Keith Leslie, Richard Charles, and Bruce James.

The Stephenson's moved to Colorado Springs, where Charles died August of 1977.
