Mabel Dunn was the first child of Alexander Dunn and Emma Irey, born on West Ninth Street in Cincinnati. She met Will Hirst at the Northside Methodist Church after her family moved to Northside when she was a girl. They married 15 Jun 1898. Will and Mabel were the first missionaries sponsored by God’s Bible School of Cincinnati, and spent 12 years in South Africa and Rhodesia. Five of their eight children were born in Africa, and one is buried there. Mabel raised seven very successful children, and was grandmother to 21. Mabel died of cancer in 1944, and Will’s ashes are buried in her casket.
