As a young man, Shep became involved in physical fitness and later became a physical fitness instructor for the Harlem Y.M.C.A. He was a member of the United States Boxing Team as well as a Golden Glove Contender in the 1930's. During World War II, he served his country as a member of the 369th infantry . In the mid 1940's he pursued a career in acting and appeared in "Hi De Ho" a Cab Calloway movie and the All American Production of "Chicago After Dark" as well as several Oscar Micheaux movies and soundies. In later years he became an inventor and had several registered patents and is listed in Presidential Publishers "In Black America." Shep was also active in community affairs and lived his life to the fullest. He is surely missed.
