Janice was born in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of Patrick and Eleanor Baccellieri. She attended St. Ignatius School and Central Catholic High School. She was a good student, active in Camp Fire Girls, and working with the homeless. In 1987, she married John Aichele, and worked while he went through the police academy. She was employed at Farwest Life Insurance Co., and then at Central Point Software, where she was a customer service representative. Her hobbies included a "Snoopy" collection, needlework, trips to the beach, crafts and cooking.

She tragically passed away when she made a decision to end her marriage and her husband shot her in the basement of her mother's home. He then shot himself.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, David P., of Portland; her mother, Eleanore P. of Portland; her brothers, Frank A. of Portland, Patrick H. of Seattle and Daniel J. of Hillsboro; and a sister, Nancy A. Fierling of Battle Ground, Washington. A funeral mass was held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Portland.
