VETERAN: American Civil War
Company G, 7th Kansas Cavalry

Husband of Patience Morris (Daughter of Miles O. Morris and his first wife, Mary).

Abner and Patience were married July 6, 1858 in Anderson County, Kansas. They were the parents of five children:

1. David L. Glover
2. Mary I. Glover (died of croup at the age of 7 months in April 1860 in Anderson County, Kansas)*
3. Clara A. Glover
4. Luther F. Glover [Lewis F. Glover in 1870 US Federal Census]
5. William Nelson Glover

In 1876, three of their four remaining children (David, Luther, and William) died within days of each other in Anderson County, Kansas, leaving Clara as the only surviving child.

Originally Abner and Clara were buried in the "Old Coweeman Cemetery" on the Glover family homestead in Kelso, Washington. Later, the property sold to John and Jesse Beck, who then sold lots about 1918 when Allen Street was built. Most graves were supposedly moved to the new I.O.O.F cemetery in Kelso (now Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens). Abner, his wife Patience, and their daughter Clara are buried in one grave with the stone from the former cemetery. An article "Opening the Allen Street Road" says that previous to 1904-1905, the only road from the Coweeman Valley into town was by the hill road. When putting in the new road (about 2 miles east of town), the right-of-way passed thru the old pioneer cemetery (Old Coweeman) where there was a thick grove of fir. The road followed an old rail fence, which was the line between the Medlock and Abner Glover places. Abner's occupation was Blacksmith and a Wagon Maker.
