She was born in Bulloch County but lived most of her life in Chatham County. She retired from the Tetley Tea Company after many years.
She was a member of the Chapel in the Gardens Presbyterian Church where she had served as an organist for many years. She was a member of the Bethlehem Chapter #269, OES.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David M. Burke, Sr. and a son Richard A. Burke, Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Harriet Boyer (Robert) of Savannah, GA and Brenda N. Horton of Rincon, GA; one sister, Varie Etta Brown of Monroe, N.C.; 1 daughter-in-law, Dianne Nelson of Garden City, GA; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Burke's Great-grand-sons will serve as Pall Bearers.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Smile Train P.O. Box 96231 Washington, D.C. 20090-6231 or the Chapel in the Gardens Presbyterian Church in Garden City, GA.
Visitation: 3-5 pm Sunday March 16, 2008 at Fairhaven Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Monday March 17, 2008 at the Chapel in the Gardens Presbyterian Church in Garden City, GA with Rev. Daren L. Russell officiating.
Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
