Died 3:06 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1986, at St. Luke's Hospital, Houston, Texas. He was 63, a native of Mississippi and resident of Bunkie. He was the advertising and circulation manager of Baptist Message with 26 years service and was minister of Hessmer Baptist Mission.

Visiting at Melancon Funeral, Home, Bunkie, after 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Friday. Religious services at First Baptist Church, Bunkie, 2 p.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Jim Loston, the Rev. Lucien Conway, the Rev. Charles Blackmon Sr., and Dr. Clyde Averett. Burial in Pythian Cemetery, Bunkie.

Survived by wife, Nancy Mikell Carruth, Bunkie; a son, Charles Carruth, Pineville; two daughters, Sandra Sanders, Pineville, and Susan Lansdale, Tullos; a brother, Farrar Carruth, New York; four sisters, Doris Stoker, Natchitoches, Faye Fitzgerald and Mary Smith, both of Pineville, and Grace Lewis, Mississippi; and 10 grandchildren. He pastored numerous churches in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas, and was a graduate of Louisiana College, Pineville, and New Orleans Baptist Seminary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hessmer Baptist Mission.
