Otto was born to William F. and Henrietta Kokemoor Schlottmann on April 4, 1915 in Independence, Texas. He was baptized on June 27, 1915 at St. John's Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill by Pastor F. Apfelbach, and confirmed on April 13, 1930 at St. John's Lutheran Church by Pastor Paul Gogolin.

Otto attended and graduated from Blinn College on May 25, 1931. He was married to Alma Schulte on November 12, 1941.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alma Schlottmann, on March 27, 1979, brothers Bill Schlottmann and Lonnie Schlottmann, and sister, Lydia Lohmeyer.

Otto followed in his father's footsteps as a cattle rancher. He also engaged in farming, buying cattle for stockyards and processing plants, and hauling cattle. He enjoyed working cattle with his favorite horse, Dusty. Otto won several belts and buckles as a bull rider and remembered with fondness his days as a Washington County deputy sheriff. Those of us who knew Otto remember him for his kindness, generosity and love of children. He will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include sisters-in-law, Ruby Schlottmann and Nelda Schlottmann of Brenham, and Gertrude Schulte of Houston, nieces, Vernell and husband Dale Carnagey, Sandra and husband, David Lange, Karen and husband, Willie Rosenbaum, Debra and husband, Glenn Kovar, Linda and husband, Morris McCulloch, all of Brenham. Nephews, Jerry and wife, Kathy Conrad, and Jim Conrad, all of Houston. He also leaves to mourn him numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and very special friend, Lois Hugo, and many other close and dear friends.
