FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN ILLINOIS

Friends in this city were shocked to learn of the sudden death at 10:30 o'clock Sunday night of Faris Cunningham, 57, former resident of this city and a member of the Caruthersville's pioneer families, who died of a hemorrhage at the blessing hospital at Quincy, Illinois, only 8 hours after he had been admitted as a patient there.

Funeral services were held at the LaForge Undertaking Company Chapel here yesterday (Thursday) afternoon with the Rev. D. K. Foster officiating and with burial in Little Prairie Cemetery.

Mr. Cunningham was born December 1st, 1898, in Caruthersville, the son of miss Virginia Faris Cunningham and the late John A. Cunningham. He attended William Jewell College at Liberty, Missouri, and Iowa State college and, on December 10th, 1929, was married to the former Miss Flora Hart.

In Quincy, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and of the Elks Lodge, and for 12 years had been the manager of the Sherwin-Williams Paint Store.

Previously he had engaged in the automobile business here and for several years was district manager of the Universal C.I.T Finance Company in Springfield, MO. He worked with Sherwin-Williams in Tupelo, Miss., before going to Quincy in 1944. He served in the Army during World War I.

He is survived by his wife; his mother, who was living in Quincy, with them at the time of his death; and three brothers John A. Cunningham Jr. of Lafayette, Ind., Robert J. Cunningham of Burbank, Calif., and Lyman R. Cunningham of Pasadena, Texas.
