LaVerne Pendleton, called by her many school students as Mrs. P, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, in Waco. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at the Clifton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Boggy Cemetery. She was born on Nov. 6, 1918 in Meridian. She graduated from Meridian High School, Tarleton College and North Texas State University. She taught school in Bosque County for 38 years, 33 of which was in Cranfills Gap High School. She retired in 1980. Besides her love for teaching, she had a special love for music – church, gospel and country and western. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady; daughter, Janie Lu; infant son, her parents and brother, Harold. She is survived by a son-in-law, Randy Pace, two nephews, and two nieces. Memorials may be made to Bosque County Animal Kennels. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
