His born name was Michael M Hofer in 1968 his legally changed his name to Albrecht. He changed his name to his wife's last name. His wife last name would have been lost because they never had a son to continue there family name. There is nothing wrong or illegal with this. By him doing this Michael & Rita had 2 sons Dan & Mark to continue the name Albrecht.
