Gladys Geary Bush Adams, 92, of Beaver, Pa., formerly of Connellsville, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2004, in Heritage Valley Health System in Beaver. She was born Oct. 18, 1911, in Bullskin Township, Pa., a daughter of the late William Bush and Daisy Edith Geary.
Gladys was Protestant by faith and member of Four Mile Presbyterian Church in Beaver. She was a charter member of the Carson Art Association in Carson, Calif. She was an artist of some repute who enjoyed painting up to her last days, creating paintings enjoyed by all who viewed them. She also found pleasure in sewing, arts and crafts. Gladys will forever remain in the memories of her children, relatives and circle of friends whose lives she touched and influenced throughout the years.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda R. Hepler and her husband, Blaine of Beaver; a son, Larry S. Adams and his wife, Nina of Houston, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, George Bush and his wife, Carol of West Virginia; and three sisters, Florence Baker Gangawere of New Mexico, Helen Baker Morris of Connellsville and Geraldine Rodke of Uniontown.
In addition to her parents, Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Adams; a son, Darwin G. Adams; and a brother, Wade Bush.
Friends will be received in the Vito C. Martucci Funeral Home, 123 S. First St., West Side, Connellsville, Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m., Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday until 11 a.m. the hour of service with Pastor Martin Williams of Four Mile Presbyterian Church in Beaver officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville.

Gladys was raised by her grandparents, Chauncey Franklin and Eliza Jane Knopsnyder Geary, in Spruce Hollow, Bullskin Twp., Pa. Chauncey [1853-1935] was the son of Adam Geary/Gary [1815-1896] who was the youngest son of Peter Gary, a Revolutionary War veteran who lived in Somerset County, Pa. Gladys and her husband Sam, a former coal miner, operated the Shady Rest Service Station on the Springfield Pike, Connellsville Twp., Pa., then moved to Torrance, Calif., in the 1960s. They returned to Pennsylvania in the 1970s.
