Mrs. Melba Jean Bankston, age 68 - born in Lena, MS and resident of Florence, MS passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 in Jackson, MS. She was a member of Briar Hill Baptist Church, Florence, MS.
Mrs. Bankston was a loving and devoted wife to her husband of over 42 years and a dedicated and caring mother to her children and foster children.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home and again from 11 a.m. until 12 noon Wednesday, Oct. 12 with graveside services and interment following in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Bankston is survived by her husband, Daniel Ray Bankston; two sons, Christopher (Kristin) Bankston and Thomas (Stacey) Bankston; one daughter, Pamela Bankston; two brothers, Houston (Carol) Weaver and Leon Weaver; two sisters, Frances Williams and Lorraine (Gus) Murphy; three grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
