Janice M. Secrest, age 73, of Celina, passed away at her home on Monday, August 21, 2023.

She was born July 19, 1950, at Gibbons Hospital in Celina, to the late Donald A. and Elsie M. (Baucher) Ward.

Janice and Garry J. Secrest were married on August 30, 1969, and he preceded her in death July 5, 1986.

Surviving are their children: Traci (Chad) Willrath, Brent (Kristie) Secrest, and Brian "Bud" (Amy) Secrest, all of Celina, grandchildren: Kyle Trafzer, Ashley Trafzer (Brady Maag), Haley Secrest, Rianne Willrath, and Chase Willrath, and great granddaughters: Maycee and Makinley.

Her brothers and sister: Gerald "Mort" (Candy) Ward, Harold "Brownie" Ward, Louie (Joan) Ward, Donald Dean Ward and Ruth Uhlenhake, all survive in Celina, along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were a brother: Larry "Dutch" Ward, brothers-in-law: John Paul Uhlenhake and Terry (Paula) Secrest, and a nephew, John Paul "Johnny" Uhlenhake Jr.

A 1968 graduate of Celina High School, Janice worked for many years at Reynolds+Reynolds, and retired from Relizon.

She was a member of the Mercer County Harness Horsemen's Association, Celina VFW Post #5713 and Eagles Aerie #1291. An avid sports fan, Janice followed he Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Cavaliers and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Janice enjoyed attending area fairs, and watching harness racing. Hobbies were sewing and embroidery, and she liked gardening, and canning the produce she raised. Janice was a great cook, and made the absolute best macaroni and cheese.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 26, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, with Pastor Craig Flack, officiating.

Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.

Calling Hours are 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 25, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina.
