Milt Hodgson and Orin Conner of the Fire Department and Officer Matt Dougherty recovered the body after it had been located by Joe Fick. Coroner H. M. Best pronounced death due to drowning.
Funeral services were Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the McDonald Funeral Chapel. Rev. P. J. Pumphrey officiated. Burial was in Mt. Hope cemetery.
Besides his parents, Richard leaves two brothers at home.

Due to lack of funds at the time of burial no headstone was placed, so at this time there is NO marker. If you are wanting to visit his burial you will need to visit the Lapeer City Hall to retrieve an exact burial place for him.
