W. D. Webb Dies Suddenly
W. D. (Uncle Billy) Webb, 96, resident of Taylor County since 1904, died unexpectedly this morning at 4 o'clock at his residence, 2018 Beech.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Potosi Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Shahan of San Angelo officiating, assisted by the Rev. M. F. Richardson and the Rev. Sterling Price of Abilene. Burial will be in the Potosi Cemetery under the direction of Elliott's Funeral Home.
Six grandsons will be pallbearers.
Mr. Webb was born Oct.1, 1851, in Hardeman County, Tenn. He came to Texas in 1879, settling in Collin County. Later he moved to Ellis County and then to Taylor County in 1904, making his home at Potosi untill moving to Abilene six years ago.
He was a member of the University Baptist Church.
Survivors include the widow; three daughters, Mrs. J. O. Elliott of Abilene, Mrs. R. M. Brown of Wichita Falls, and Mrs. M. A. Cooper of Grandview; two step-daughters, Mrs. G.R. Waldrop and Mrs. J. R. Rampy; four sons, Luther, Lucian and Mark V. Webb all of Abilene, and W. M. Webb of Tuscola; 35 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Howard of Fort Worth. Luther Webb is County Commissioner for precint 1.
