Glenn P. Zech

YORK NEW SALEM - Glenn P. Zech, 90, passed away at home with his family by his side on October 3, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Violet A. (Barrick) Zech; together they shared over 65 years of marriage.
Glenn was born on his family farm in Codorus Township, on September 17, 1921, and was the son of the late Harry Zech and Katie May (Bollinger) Zech.
He graduated from Codorus Township High School class of 1939. He worked as a farmer his entire life. First, at his father's hatchery "Zech Brothers" until he was married and then he farmed his own land in North Codorus Township for over 44 years. He was a member of the Church of the Open Door in Shiloh, South Central Pennsylvania Genealogical Society, York County Heritage Trust and The National Rifle Assoc.
In addition to his wife Violet, he is survived by his son, Glenn E. Zech and his wife, Marlene of York; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Janet Smith in 1984; and his brothers, John Zech and Edward Zech.
A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with Rev. Clair Shorb officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at Jefferson Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
