Hattie Lue White, 84, died at 11:12 a.m. Sept. 29, 2011, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 15, 1927, in Drew, Miss., to Richard and Amanda Williams Upchurch, who preceded her in death. On July 1, 1955, she married the Rev. J.D. White, who died June 8, 2002.

Mrs. White had been the first lady of Eleventh Street Missionary Baptist Church, where her husband retired as pastor. While with the church she had been a Sunday school teacher, member of the Mothers Board, the Nurses Aide board, the Kitchen Committee and assumed all the duties of the first lady.

Survivors include a son, John D. (Marian "Shane") Carter, of Lima; a daughter, Ora D. Wilkerson, of Chicago; three grandchildren, David Heard, Tracy Carter and John Savage Jr.; six great-grandchildren, LaTisha, Kayla, David I, David II, Jalisha and JaMyra; two brothers, Richard Upchurch, of Chicago, and Jimmy Upchurch, of Chicago Heights, Ill.; and two sisters-in-law, T. Upchurch and Lois Upchurch, both of Chicago.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Frank and Jasper Upchurch; and two sisters, Desiree Roscoe and Marie Spraggs.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Eleventh Street Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert Toney will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
