WATTERS, William D. "Bill" - 81, Wolfville, Kings Co., passed away Friday, April 4, 2003, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Stellarton, Pictou Co., he was a son of the late William D. and Margaret (Howard) Watters. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Calgary Highlanders in France, where he was wounded. Upon returning from the war, he settled in the Annapolis Valley, where he was employed with the Wolfville Post Office for over 30 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member, past president and honourary president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Dr. C.B. Lumsden Branch No. 74, Wolfville. He was a member of IWK Health Centre Foundation and was a former member of both the Wolfville Lions Club and the KenWo Golf and Country Club, New Minas. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Glady Guptell; son, William D. "Bill" (Wanda), Charlottetown, P.E.I.; sisters, Claire Sutherland, Riverton, Pictou Co.; Margaret Brownell and Anna (Ken) Campbell, all of Stellarton; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Mary Bayer; brothers, James "Harvey", Warren, who was killed during the Second World War; a brother in infancy. There will be no visitation by family request. A Royal Canadian Legion graveside service will be held at a later date in Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville, Padre Rev. Dr. Roger Prentice officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the IWK Health Centre Foundation, Valley Regional Hospital or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to W.C. Hiltz/White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
