Dorothy is the eldest of four children (3 males, 1 female). She married Charles Boyd Patrick 22 Aug 1953, St. Henry's Church, Charleston (Mississippi Co.), Missouri. She is the mother of five children (four sons and one daughter).

Dorothy attended a small school with only seven members in her graduating class; she took typing at a local community college before moving to Houston, where she got a job in the secretarial pool at Trunkline Gas Company. It was there that she met her future husband, Charles.

She was a devout Catholic and made sure all four of her children attended Mass with her regularly. They attended Holy Ghost School while the family lived in Bellaire, Texas.

Dorothy dreamed of the "glamorous" life and was an avid consumer of news about Hollywood stars. She loved to go "antiquing" when the family lived near Philadelphia, and collected all sorts of things--cups, silverware, etc. She loved tending her plants in the greenhouse that Charles built for her.
