Mr. D.V. "Jim" Parks, age 72, a resident of Gillham, AR died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at his home.


He was born March 30, 1937 in Mineral, AR. He was retired from Nekoosa-Edwards in Ashdown after 27 years. He was a member of the Silver Hill Masonic Lodge, the Sevier County Cattlemens Assn., and the Gillham Baptist Church. He loved spending time with friends and family and watching his Brangus cross cows grow on the Bar P Ranch.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Georgie Parks; one brother Derwin Parks, and two sisters, Nep Argenbright and Neta Faye Whisenhunt.



He is survived by his wife, Gail Reves Parks; his children, Benny (Kim) Parks of Wickes, AR, Vernon (Brenda) Parks of Gillham, Alicia (Joey) Botter , Shelly (Rodney) Kilby and Starla (Steve) Bleifus all of Hot Springs, AR, his siblings, Tula Mae Higgins of Texarkana, TX, Delter Parks of Wickes, Freda Jo Adair of Lockesburg, AR and Murl Higgins of Gillham, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.


Funeral services for Mr. Parks will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2009 in the Gillham Baptist Church with Rev. Bob McManus officiating. Burial will follow in the Mineral Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
