His name was spelled with one "l" in all censuses and his marriage records. I only found it spelled with two "l"s in newspaper reports of his death, a book about his death (murder), and the cemetery stone. All other family members spelled Wilson with one "l".
b. abt 1812 - He was the son of James Wilson and Mary McNeil, and brother of John McNeil Wilson. He was a merchant and President of the Village Board of Winnetka. James and his wife were murdered in their home.
