GEORGETOWN - John Henry ``Drop'' Alston, 88, of Maple Street, died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 12, 1910, in Georgetown, a son of the late Mamie Alston.
He attended Georgetown County schools and was a member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy White of Georgetown and Betty Baines of Dillon; a son, the Rev. Gunther Simmons of Texas; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery.
