SPRINGFIELD - Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at St. Alice Catholic Church in Springfield for John C. Lynett of Springfield, formerly of Toledo. He died Sept. 19 of cancer at age 97. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene.
He was born Dec. 15, 1910, in Galesburg, Ill., to John and Maria McCurnin Lynett. He married Rita Dyer on May 2, 1932, in Portland.
Lynett served in the National Guard and worked as an ambulance driver in Portland. He later operated a dairy farm in the Toledo area and worked in the timber industry. He retired in 1982.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Rice of Eugene and Rita Wafford of Springfield; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His wife died in 1996.
