Valley as she was called was one of nine known children born to William Jefferson Pemberton(7/25/1846-6/17/1916) and Susan E. Garner Pemberton(3/14/1848-1/07/1907). Her father was a "War Between the States" combat wounded veteran. Born on the farm west of Armstrong, Missouri off now County Road 259, she grew up here where she spent most of her natural life. Her family where all original Howard County, Missouri pioneers and can be traced back to Kentucky, Virginia, and England to the mid-seventeenth century. Her siblings are, including Valley;
