He Was living in Pike County, Alabama when the Civil War began. Was just eighteen when he volunteered for service in the C.S.A. He was in the 45th Alabama Regiment Co. E. He served Bragg's army quite a bit during his service in the CSA. He was in the Battle of Nashville, Battle of Franklin. He fought in Corinth, MS; NC; Atlanta, GA; Rome and Reseca, GA; Springhill, TN;and surrendered in Snithville, NC.
He returned home after the war and he married Martha V. Lindsey November 20, 1867 in Troy, Pike co. AL. They moved to Independence Co., AR and settled in Moorefield, Independence Co., AR where he died of pnuemonia February 3, 1922. He was buried at Lee's Chapel Cemetery outside of Moorefield along with his ancestors.
