Sukhpal was a taxi cab driver in San Francisco that was shot and killed in his cab in the early morning hours of August 4th while stopped at a red light. Police believe that a gang fight broke out somewhere near the intersection and it was a stray bullet that killed him. His brother Balbir Singh Sodhi was killed less than a year before and was notable for being the first hate crime related murder victim following the September 11th attacks.
