Lyman Childs, the second son and seventh child of Captain Penuel Child and Sarah Woodward, was born Jan 21, 1797 in Sand Lake (now Poestenkill), NY. He married Mary Gould, daughter of Bezaleel Gould, on Jan 5, 1822. Lyman and Mary shared 61 years together and raised 9 children. In his will, Lyman names his son William "Eaton" Childs executor of his estate and provides all his real and personal property for use by his wife Mary during her lifetime. Thereafter, his children Darius, Lucinda, Alpha, and Clark each received fifty dollars and the remainder of his estate was left to his son and executor Eaton Childs.
