Brig. Gen. Edward J. Mackey of Atlanta, a retired official of the Veterans Administration in Georgia, died of cancer Thursday at the VA Medical Center. He was 80.
He was diagnosed as having cancer in 1985, according to a family member.
The funeral was today at Spring Hill with burial at Crest Lawn Memorial Park.
A lawyer, he retired as assistant adjudication officer for the VA in Georgia in 1984.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Blanche White Mackey; a daughter, Mrs. Jean Harwell of Covington, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Annie L. Rhodes of Mableton, and two grandchildren.
