COLOMA - Chester L. Jollay Sr., 85, 275 Morrison St, Coloma, died Sunday at Community Hospital, Watervliet, following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Davidson Chapel, Coloma, Florin Funeral Service, Coloma Masonic Lodge No. 162, of which he was a life member, will conduct rites. Burial and military rites, conducted by Coloma American Legion Post No. 362, will follow in Coloma Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the Coloma Emergency Ambulance Service or to the memorial fund of Coloma Congregational United Church of Christ, of which he was a member.
Mr. Jollay was born Feb. 25, 1897, in Knoxville, Tenn. He was a World War I rmy Medical Corps veteran and had been employed as a maintenance supervisor at Superior Steel Corp., Benton Harbor, before retiring in 1973.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mabel Wolff; three sons--Chester Jr. of Benton Harbor, Farris of Marion, Ohio, and James of Baton Rouge, La.; two stepchildren--Leroy Wolff of Lancaster, Calif., and Mrs. Wendell (Lois) Smith of Lawrence; two brothers--Ralph Jollay of Valdosta, Ga., and the Rev. Malcom Jollay of Lebanon, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. His first wife, the former Maude Bridgman, preceded him in death on Nov. 29, 1974.
