Mr. Donald L. Allen, 75, of AuGres, passed away Aug. 30, 2011, at the Iosco County Medical Care Facility.

Don was born May 14, 1936, in Mt. Clemens, to Hollace and Violet Allen. Don served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He enjoyed the discipline of the service and the chance to visit a number of foreign countries. Don was a journeyman machinist at Bay City Shovels when he first started working. In the 1970s, Don taught the machine trade at AuGres-Sims School District. He received great satisfaction meeting former students who chose the machine trade as a career. Don was later employed in tool and die repair at Bopp-Busch Manufacturing of AuGres. Don served on the AuGres Township Board for many years and was a member of the "Fact Finding Committee" for the Standish Prison. Don had many hobbies during his lifetime, including fishing, deer, turkey and elk hunting, building cars and even a canoe, and playing his guitar and harmonica.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Diana; son, Brian (Chris) Allen; granddaughter, Bree Ann; sisters, Sandra (Wendell) Griffus and Janet Hall.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeff; brothers, Hollise Richard Allen and James Allen; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Allen and Janet Allen.
