Belma, the 3rd of 5 children, married George Wilmer "Bill" Palmer in 1932 in Houston, Texas. While Belma never had any children of her own, she and Bill raised his grandchildren, Julie & Bobby Palmer, from Fall 1948 to Dec 1956. Julie & Bobby were the children of Bill's son, Bob, and Wanda Mae (Bassett) Palmer. Bill & Belma had a farm in Southern Alabama, about 1/2 mile north of the Florida state line, on Hwy 231. They sold the farm and moved to Channelview, Texas, a small community just outside of Houston, Texas, sometime in 1956/1957. Complicated by a lifetime of heavy smoking, Belma died {at home} of heart disease, complicated by diabetes, in Sept 1979, at the age of 72.
