Mrs. Era Gibbs Alexander, age 79 of Vidalia, died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at her home after an extended illness. She was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, and was the secretary for many years at Alexander Brothers Heating Air. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Vidalia, Past President of the Mae Ragan Sunday School Class, and Past President of the United Methodist Women. She was Past President of the "Pink Ladies", now the Meadows Regional Medical Center Auxilians, and was preceded in death by her parents, H.W. and Ruth Harrelson Gibbs, and a sister, Maddline Thomley.

Mrs. Alexander is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Alexander Frederick and husband Brian; two sons, Michael Alexander and wife Diane, and Mark Alexander and wife Jennifer all of Vidalia; three sisters, Dorothy Cowart of Vidalia, Betty Pittman and husband Jessie of Cedar Crossing, and Diane Fromme of Rincon; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 10th at 11:00 am in the First United Methodist Church of Vidalia with Reverend Robert Greene, Reverend David Blalock, and Jose Caraballo officiating. Interment will follow in the Hardens Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00.Gibbs
