WILLIE L. SHOTWELL, 74, of Memphis died August 31, 2011 in Memphis, TN after an extended illness. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Hollye M. Shotwell; daughter, Dr. Tracey E. Shotwell; two brothers, Roy (Ada) Shotwell and Frederick Shotwell, all of Memphis; mother-in-law, Lucille Hinton and sister-in-law, Claudette Lacey of Memphis and a brother-in-law, Leonard (Cathryn) Martin of Atlanta, Georgia. Many cousins, nieces and nephews, colleagues, former students and surrogate sons and daughters will cherish fond memories of him. Mr. Shotwell retired from Federal Express as managing director, Corporate Human Resources Services. He graduated from B. T. Washington High School in 1956 and LeMoyne-Owen College in 1961. Mr. Shotwell was a man devoted to service. He made a living by what he got, but he made a life by what he gave. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 1169 Kerr Ave. Memorials may be sent to LeMoyne-Owen College, Goodwill Homes Community Services, Inc., or St. Augustine Church.
