Mr. Herman J. Nellen, age 74, died peacefully at his home on Thursday evening, February 5, 1981 in Sun Prairie. He was born in Waunakee on July 22, 1906. He farmed in the town of Bristol from 1924-1966. Mr. Nellen married the former Janice Mootz and they celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. He was a member of St. Alberts Catholic Church in Sun Prairie, an Army Veteran of WWII, and a member of American Legion Post 333. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Norbert of Waunakee, Herbert and Robert both of Sun Prairie; five daughters, Mrs. Carl (Janet) Storch of Madison, Mrs. Richard (Ruth) Webber of McFarland, Mrs. James (Lorraine) Skalitzky of Sun Prairie, and Agnes and Anna both of Sun Prairie; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond of Sun Prairie, and Henry of West Allis; three sisters, Mrs. William (Agnes) Salewski of Waterloo, Mrs. Fred (Mary) Meier of Columbus, and Mrs. James (Catherine) Susee of Sun Prairie. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norbert in 1929 and Aloyslous in 1971 and his parents. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Alberts Catholic Church, Sun Prairie. Father Donadl Wiecki will officiate. Burial will be at Sun Prairie Memory Garden, where military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 333. Friends may call at the Tuschen Funeral Home, Sun Prairie from 4 until 9 p.m. on Friday evening, where the American Legion Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. and the Parish Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. WSJ 2/7/1981
