Rural Coloma woman, shot in head, dies

COLOMA - Funeral services for Mrs. Walter (Glenda) Tuten, 18, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Davidson Funeral home. She died Wednesday at Bronson hospital, Kalamazoo, from a gunshot wound in the head. Her husband, Walter, 25, was arraigned in fifth district court on a charge of murder.

Berrien sheriff's detectives said Mrs. Tuten was shot May 15 in the Tuten bedroom on the John Miller farm, Mountain and Angling Rds. She was taken to Community hospital by her husband and father, then rushed to Bronson hospital.

Mrs. Tuten was born at Manila, Ark. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Delinda; her father, Charles Hogue of Coloma; her mother, Mrs. Thelma Shockey of Isabella, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. George (Wanda) Shockey of Coloma and Diana and Alice of Isabella, and two brothers, John and Charles, both of Isabella. The Rev. George Wright officiated at the services and burial was in Coloma cemetery.
