Services for Mrs. Boyce Ray Reed, 75, the former Clara Lee Shuler, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of Christ with the Rev. Ken Wright officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Visitation will be today from 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
A native of Sulphur, Okla. and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Reed died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2004, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Mrs. Reed was a retired bookkeeper who worked for Bruce Foods for 25 years. She was also a bookkeeper with Iberia Parish Hospital (now Iberia Medical Center) for seven years.
She has been a longtime member of the Church of Christ and a past Cub Scout Den Mother for many years while her five sons were members. Mrs. Reed had a love for reading, flowers and music. Her greatest love was spending time with her family, often playing games with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Boyce Ray Reed of New Iberia; her seven children, Vicky Lee Arbuckle and her husband, Ralph, of Willis, Texas, Patty Rodgers and her husband, Will, of Conroe, Texas, Randy Reed and his wife, Jamie, of New Iberia, Michael Reed and his wife, Jennifer, of New Iberia, Robert Reed and his wife, Dixie, of Lovington, N.M., Tim Reed and his wife, Letty, of New Iberia and John Reed and his wife, Lisa, of Fort Worth, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; her brother, John Shuler Jr. of Palatka, FL; and her sisters, Helen Robbins of Washington, Iowa and Jean Whitfield of Nassau, N.H.
Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her parents, John Alfred Shuler Sr. and Ida Mae McAfee Shuler; and her sister, Mary Lynn Shuler.
Pallbearers will be her five sons, Randy, Michael, Robert, Tim and John Reed and her grandson, Nicholas Reed.
Honorary pallbearers will be Will Rodgers, Ralph Arbuckle, David and Matthew Reed and Darren Rodgers.
