BOYCE RAY REED

Funeral services will be celebrated for Mr. Boyce Ray Reed, 81, at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at the Church of Christ. Pastor Ken Wright will officiate. Mr. Reed will be laid to rest with his wife at Memorial Park Mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of Tuesday from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visiting hours will resume on Wednesday and will be held at the Church of Christ, 667 Charles Street, from 8 a.m. until time of services.

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Reed passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2011, at his residence.

Ray, as he was known by family and friends, was a diesel mechanic and retired from World Marine Enterprises. He loved tinkering with motors of any type, and in his later years enjoyed tending to his yard. He was also a longtime member and elder of the Church of Christ in New Iberia. He leaves behind many fond memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his seven children Vicky Lee Arbuckle and husband, Ralph, of Willis, Texas, Patty Rodgers and husband, Will, of Conroe, Texas, Randy Reed and wife, Jaime, of New Iberia, Michael Reed and wife, Jennifer, of New Iberia, Robert Reed and wife, Dixie, of Abilene, Kansas, Tim Reed and wife, Letty, of New Iberia and John Reed and wife, Lisa, of Wichita, Kansas; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Lee Shuler Reed; parents, Orby Albert Reed and Opal Hawpe Reed; his granddaughter Brook Reed; and sisters Mary Odom and Fay Peveto (his twin).

Serving as pallbearers will be Randy, Michael, Robert, Tim and John Reed, and Will Rodgers. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Reed, Kevin Holt, Blake Bassham and Seth Reed.
