JOYCE LAWSON
Joyce Lawson, 55, of Dougherty was born Sept. 19, 1955, in Wynnewood to W.L. and Sarah Jo (Cottrell) Jones and died Aug. 5, 2011, in Sulphur. Funeral services were Aug. 8, 2011, at Hale's Memorial Chapel in Davis. Burial was at Lewis Cemetery in Wynnewood.
She married Jerry Don Lawson on June 19, 1972, in Pauls Valley, and he preceded her in death May 28, 2008. She spent 22 years working with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and raised Dexter cattle with her husband.
Survivors include: two children, Robin Lawson of Sulphur and Amy Cox of Lone Grove; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, and one brother.
~~~~~~~
Joyce had recently become interested in helping to preserve headstone markers by making photos and adding records to Findagrave. Joyce and I lived only 10 miles apart but had never met until we crossed paths through Findagrave although I went to school with her husband.
Rest in peace Joyce, and thank you for all your efforts with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and in helping families find the resting places of their loved ones.
