Linda Carol (Tyrie) Bowen, 60, died August 1, 2011 in Portland, Oregon.

She was born on November 27, 1950, to William and Norma Tyrie, in Layfayette, Indiana.

She resided in Largo, Florida, for a number of years before relocating to the Portland, Oregon, area.

An avid photographer and quilter, she was also a talented artist in many mediums. Her creations graced many a Christmas and birthday celebration.

After retiring from a 28-year career with the U.S. Postal Service, she enjoyed crafting, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She was a supporter of local organizations such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Oregon, the Hillsboro Air Show, and the Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC.)

Linda was a compassionate and loyal friend to many and never hesitated to help others when asked. She had a wicked sense of humor and always had a laugh to share with others.

She was preceded in death by her father, William C. Tyrie, and a sister, Sharon Pace.

She is survived by her mother, Norma (Tyrie) Walsh, of Largo, FL; daughter, Jennifer Riley; son, Patrick Sean Bowen (Michelle); and grandson, David Riley, all of Beaverton, OR; sisters Judy Rosenkrantz of Placentia, CA, and Eileen Peitsch of Clearwater, FL; brothers Ron Tyrie of Homosassa, FL; Steve Tyrie of Greenwood, IN; and Glenn Tyrie of Largo, FL.

Cause of death: while walking in a crosswalk in Hillsboro, Washington Co. she was hit by a slow moving truck, she died later at O.S.H.U. from her head injury.
