Jack L. Smith was born on June 28, 1930, in Chickasha OK, the son of Manley Smith and Viola (Lanham) Smith. He died on August 23, 2011, in Chickasha. Jack was a great athlete. In high school he was a two-team All-State Quarterback. He graduated from Chickasha High School in 1949 and went on to Wentworth Military College where he was an All-Conference Quarterback as well as being on the first team for basketball and baseball before graduating in 1951. In 1952, he was asked to join the football team at the University of Oklahoma. He turned down the offer and joined the United States Army in 1953. He was a Sergeant in the Infantry and was discharged in 1955. Jack was a member of the Chickasaw Nation. He was a loving father and grandfather and a good friend who will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by both parents, wife Helen Sue Smith, and wife DeJuan Smith.

Survivors include his sons Randy Smith and wife Becky, Scott Smith and wife Vickie, and Mick Smith, all of Chickasha, and Barry Gagnon and wife Joy of Edmond OK; daughters Jackie Cook and husband Tim, and Tonya Kuester, all of Chickasha; sisters Kathryn Royse and husband Earl of Tulsa OK, Sandra Hogue and husband Jim of Grand Lake OK, and Mildred Wilson; grandchildren Layla Smith, Dallas Smith, Lindy Jones, Randy Scott Smith, Brandon Smith, Austin Carrillo, and Sandra Carrillo, all of Chickasha; great-grandchildren Kaylee, Kayson, Landon, and Addison Smith; and many close friends.
