David A. Smith
David A. Smith, age 58 of Rt. 1, (Blueville) Grafton, WV passed away suddenly, Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Grafton City Hospital.
He was born May 31, 1953 in Pontiac, Michigan, a son of the late Oley A. Smith and Majorie L. (Morris) Smith.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Elizabeth Ann (West) Smith; two daughters, Brandi Leann Campbell of Morgantown, WV and Tonya Marie Smith of Grafton; one sister, Donna Sue Bennett and husband Craig, of Morgantown; eleven nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Juanita West of Grafton; three brothers-in-law, Kevin Thomas West, Rev. Joe West and wife, Pam, all of Grafton, and John H. West of Cheriton, VA.
David was a state inspector for the Department of Environmental Protection for 25 years, a member of the Blueville United Methodist Church, where he was the Sunday School Superintendent, and President of the G.H.S. Athletic Boosters from 2000-2008. He found and set grave stones for unmarked graves of Veterans, was the State Lt. Commander for the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and was a member of the 18th North Carolina Company "A" Civil War Reenactment Group for eight years.
The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 2:00-9:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Sue Lowther officiating.
Interment will follow at the Woodsdale Memorial Park Cemetery in Grafton.
