Charles Blackburn Peddicord was the oldest child of Samuel Peddicord (1846- ) and Louisa (Winkler) Peddicord (1848- ) natives of Missouri.

Charles had the following known siblings:

Nettie A. (Peddicord) Major (1877-1966)
Mattie L. Peddicord 1879-
Mary E. Peddicord 1883-
James Peddicord 1890-
Bonnie Peddicord 1893-

Charles' maternal grandparents were Henry Winkler (1816- ) and Arvlee (Asbell) Winkler (1820-1877) who were married in Macon County, Missouri, but lived in Schuyler and Chariton County, Missouri.

Arvlee Winkler was raised by this writer's great great grandparents Ezekiel Bennett, Sr. and Lydia (Asbell) Bennett, and as a sister to my great grandmother Paulina (Bennett) Thurman. The exact relationship of Arvlee to the Bennetts is unknown, but since her maiden name was Asbell, the same as Lydia's maiden name, it is suspected that she was a niece of Lydia's. However, my great grandmother Paulina considered her a sister.

On July 17, 1875, Charles' mother Louisa (Winkler) Peddicord wrote a letter to her Aunt May Bennett, sister to my great grandmother Paulina (Bennett) Thurman. At that time, Louisa's only child, little Charley, was 16-month-old. She wrote this about him, "I guess I must tell you I have got one of the prettiest little boys that is a going. He can talk and walk everywhere. He is a smart little boy, you bet. His name is Charley Blackburn Peddicord." (This letter was mailed from Glasgow, Chariton County, Missouri, to Atlanta, Macon County, Missouri. This writer is in possession of the original letter.)

In the 1880 census of Missouri Township, Chariton County, Missouri, Charles Blackburn Peddicord was listed in the home of his parents.

In about 1895, Charles was married, but the name of his wife is unknown to this writer. They had one known child:

Goldie B. Peddicord 1896-

Charles's wife died in June 1900. Charles is listed as a widower at age 26 in the 1900 census of Elwood Township, Saline County, Missouri. At that time, Charles was living with his sister Nettie (Peddicord) Major, age 23, and her husband Edward Major 29, and their two children Duncan Major 2 and Viola Major 1 month. Charles' daughter Goldie does not appear in this census, and it is unknown where she was at that time.

In about 1901, Charles married Nellie Conrad (born November 1876), daughter of Jacob and Martha "Patsy" Conrad. They had the following children:

Mabel L. (Peddicord) Smith 1902-1979
David C. Peddicord 1905-1977

Sadly, Charles was only age 33 when he died on October 24, 1907, of causes unknown to this writer.

Charles wife Nellie appears as a widow in the 1910 census of Missouri Township, Chariton County, Missouri, with her children Mabel 8 and David 4, and step-daughter Goldie Peddicord who was then age 14. Nellie's mother Patsy Conrad, age 73, was also living in the household at that time.

In about 1912, Nellie remarried to John William Prewitt in Chariton County and they appear in the 1920 and 1930 census of Chariton County.
