James Albert Mirenda, age 80 years, died on August 16, 2011. He was born and raised in Glassboro, NJ in the Richwood section of Mullica Hill. He was a Professor Emeritus at Gloucester County College where he taught Biology and Astronomy for over 40 years, retiring in 2003. James also taught in Turkey and England.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Gillian M. (nee Firman); sister Adeline "Jean" (Robert) Main; brother in law William Hunt and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Lauretta Mirenda and siblings William, Charles, Anthony, Samuel, Rose Hunt, Josephine Kowalski, Joan Chauncey and Katherine Sasdelli.
Friends may call on Monday after 10 a. m. at St. Bridget's Church, Church St., Glassboro, NJ. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a. m. Interment Manahath Cemetery, Glassboro, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, P. O. Box 3170, Union, NJ 07083 or the Paralyzed Veteran's Association, 7 Mill Brook Rd., Wilton, NH 08086.
