Elizabeth Arline Davis was born September 30, 1915, at Keota, Iowa, the daughter of Wayne C. and Ceora Arnold Lyle. She was a graduate of Keota High School and William Penn College in Oskaloosa, after which she taught home economics and commercial subjects. She married J. Hayden Davis on June 8, 1939, at Indianola, Iowa, and had been a resident of Columbus Junction for over 50 years. She taught at Cotter and was a secretary there for 13 years before retiring in 1974. She was a long-standing member and very active in the Cotter Guild of the Cotter Presbyterian Church, member of the Columbus Junction PEO and Eastern Star and County Line Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Hayden; a daughter, Bette Ann, and her husband, Thomas Harris, Jr., of Yorkville, Illinois; a granddaughter, Shea Lyne Harris of Aurora, Illinois; an aunt, Margaret Sellman of Keota; nieces and nephews; and brother- and sisters-in-law Dorothy Davis Plett, and Burdette and Anita Davis.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 28, 1991, at the Stacey-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction with Rev. Linda Litch Shatner officiating at the 1:30 p.m. service. Burial was at Cambrian Cemetery, Columbus City, Iowa.
Organist was Donna Belle Hughes, and vocalists were Brian and Kristle Cummings. Casket bearers were Dr. Randall Davis, Robert G. Davis, Bruce Davis, Bill Podrill, Tom Harris and Gary Bennett.
